Ale
Welcome to Ale
The municipal district of Ale stretches like a string of pearls along the river Göta älv. Close to the diversity of choice offered by the city, yet with all the advantages of a small town. Ale’s eight centres and surrounding areas offer a variety of opportunities – you have plenty to choose from!
Museums in Ale
There are two industrial museums in Ale – the Glassworks Museum and the Museum of Rope Making. The Viking Age Farmstead that is under construction offers a valuable insight into the more ancient history of Ale.
Viking Age Farmstead
A chieftain’s farmstead from the Viking Age is being constructed in the municipality of Ale just north of Gothenburg. Not far from the site where the remains of the Äskekärr ship from the 10th century were discovered.
Accommodation
Your choice of holiday accommodation is a matter of personal taste. Are you looking for a room for the night or a base from which to explore the region? Maybe you want to try camping with the kids or stay on a farm?
Eating out
Food is a vital component of life – whether it’s just an ordinary day or a holiday. Ale has a range of eateries to suit all tastes and preferences. With everything from Mexican food to traditional Swedish cuisine.
Sights
A visit to some of the sites of natural and cultural interest in Ale is almost obligatory. A local folklore museum with its beautiful paintings by Ivar Arosenius or a rock carving in the countryside can provide a unique experience for many people.
Activities
Make rope at the Museum of Rope Making, explore the meandering pathways in the nature reserve, tolt along over rough terrain on a sturdy Icelandic horse or rent a canoe and glide silently across our beautiful lakes.
