Legendary Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman fell for Fjällbacka’s charms and spent, many happy summers on the island of Dannholmen, just west of Fjällbacka with her family. Local girl Camilla Läckberg uses this charming fishing village as the backdrop for her international best-selling crime fiction books. It is drop-dead gorgeous after all.

Fjällbacka village clusters brightly and beautifully around its harbour where the boats set sail for the Fjällbacka archipelago. Vetterberget rock towers above the town, offering fantastic views of the nearby islands.

The houses and buildings along and above the harbour are typically spick and span, pastel colour-painted in the west coast style and you expect and get cobblestone streets, cute shops, bustling cafés and a good selection of restaurants serving up famous west coast fish and shellfish.

The 'in the footsteps of Camilla Läckberg' guided tour stops off at murder spots and locations in her books and you also get a sightseeing tour of Fjällbacka. The certified guide even gives you the lowdown on the history of the village from the Vikings on. So really it's two for the price of one and well worth doing. Camilla Läckberg fans might want to know that a new TV series, 'The Fjällbacka Murders' is being filmed in and around the village.

Staying with the film theme, Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman was a frequent visitor to Fjällbacka and there is a square down by the harbour named after her. Here you'll also find a beautifully rendered and much loved bust of the actress gazing out to the Fjällbacka archipelago. Go here for details of guided boat trips to Dannholmen and other islands.

And no wonder, they are world class and fun to catch, collect, cage and pot. Fjällbacka hotels/restaurants Stora Hotellet and Bryggan Fjällbacka are great places to sample these sea treats.
