The Stångenäset area, north of Lysekil is good example of a classic fjord landscape, and a living industrial and agricultural area. Many of the region's bigger industries and farms are found here. The area has a rich cultural heritage, with a number of ancient remains, like the Bronze Age rock carvings in Backa, Störreberg grave field from the later Iron Age, and the Vinbräcka Stone, also from the Iron Age
Right at the tip of Härnäset is the nature reserve Nävekärr, with Skioldenborg fishing community, which was founded during the big herring era of the 16th century. At Härnäset you'll also find Fågelviken, which used to be the centre of the local stonemason industry, working with the red Bohuslän granite. A cultural week with stonemason activities is held at Härnäset every year.
