The Lekvad Nature Reserve in Berghem follows the River Viskan with its mighty tree formations on the steep slopes. The water passes through the area, sometimes still, sometimes bubbling, past the mill canal and the power station sluices, where sea lampreys and salmon trout have their spawning grounds.
The vegetation on the slopes has its own value with its thick growth. The extended branches of the trees also protect the fish from such predators as birds, and provide the water?s inhabitants with food in the form of insects that fall from the trees. The Lekvad Nature Reserve was established in November 2002.
From road 41 at a level with Berghem, leave the road and drive towards Desarehult.
