Gothenburgs north arcipelago

The Öckerö municipality with its pearl like string of ten islands lies in the channel between Gothenburg and Marstrand. This is Bohus county at its best. The countryside during the year is as wild and magnificent in a winter storm as it is mild and radiant in the summer sun.

Travel to the Islands

By car, bike or bus, highway 155 to Hisingen/Öckerö. The free car ferry (12 minutes) to Hönö/Öckerö or Björkö (6 minutes). The bus goes from the Nils Ericson bus terminal in central Gothenburg to the ferry terminal at Lilla Varholmen.

Accommodation

There is plenty of choice of accommodation all year; hotels at Hönö, Björkö, Grötö. Hostels at Hönö, Öckerö, Björkö, Grötö. Meet the islanders and stay at B&B. Rent a private house, cabins or apartment. Contakt turism@ockero.se

By bike

Explore Öckerö island on a bike. It's easy to find your way and there are many lovely places to relax, swim or have a picnic. Only 20 km to Gothenburg, with easy roads and free boattrips you can spend your days as you like. Take your time and have a nice day.

On the island you find what you need. Most of the stores are located to Hönö klåva harbour. Stores, touristoffice, bowling, galleria, sports and a wide choice of cafés and other places to eat.

Boats play a large part in the life of many islanders. All the islands has a guestharbour. You can also park your campingcar here. It´s works as same as a boat. Finding our own spot next to the sea. Hälsö, Öckerö, Hönö, Björkö is the biggest harbours...

Vinga lighthouse
