Öckerö Homestead Association
Öckerö Homestead Association was found year 1962. The homestead consist of five red dwelling-houses and two of them are over 200 years old. It also includes a barn, a shed for fishing-tackles, a potato-cellar, a kiosk, a school and a small fire station. In the houses there are many old objects to look at.
The Homestead Museum is open for visitors every Saturday at 4-7 pm during June, July and August, apart from public holidays. For coach-tours, school-classes and other groups there are also extra showings. For conducted tours call tel: +46 31 96 22 47
In the barn you can find tools from agriculture, joinery, fishing etc. You can also find a collapsible boat. From the forge there are carts, sleds, toboggans etc. There are also a classroom with possessions from different islands. The organ in the classroom has belonged to the Dahlgrens family. A family that has been doctors through many generations. You can see their family photo as many others. In the small fire station is the old fire engine from Öckerö fire brigade. In the kiosk you can find different effects from the old shops on Öckerö.

It takes 25 minutes by car from the centre of Gothenburg to get to the Öckerö islands. By car take highway 155 to Hisingen and continue west to Öckerö. The free car ferry takes 12 minutes to Hönö and 6 minutes to Björkö. You can also take a bus 240 that goes from Nils Ericson bus terminal in central Gothenburg to the ferry terminal at Lilla Varholmen which takes 45 minutes. From Lilla Varholmen ferries go to Björkö and Hönö. From Björkö ferries connect to Kalvsund and Grötö; and from Hönö you can reach all the other islands. Bus 291 from Hönö goes to Hönö and Fotö; and bus 290 goes to Öckerö and Hälsö. To reach the northern islands of Knippla, Hyppeln and Rörö you take a free ferry from Burö ferry terminal, Hälsö.
