Björkö Homestead
We welcome you to our homestead museum on Björkö.
Björkö Homestead lies at the heart of the island and is the island's oldest present schoolhouse, built at the end of the eighteenth century. The house was renovated when the homestead association was formed in 1988. The classroom is shown as it was in the past. There are also collections of photographs from the island's families and articles from the past. Björkö military history from the World War Two is also documented. Outside the house is a mine that came to Björkö in peace year 1941. The upperpart of the mine was turned into a cash box for a fund, "Till Kungafonden".
Björkö homestead is open Wednesdays 6pm-8pm as well as on Saturday 2pm-4pm, July-August or by agreement. Contact tfn. +46 31-961019.
