From: Landvetter Airport

From Gothenburg Central leave both bus and train to Strömstad.

On the Sj's website, you also can buy tickets. At some shops you can buy Västtrafik’s "Kontoladdning". The bus- or train staff will help you with those cards.


One option is a bus company called Gobybus (formerly Säffle bus) running to Knäm. From there it’s about 20 km to Strömstad. Visit www.gobybus.se. Västtrafik run buses between Knäm and Strömstad. www.vasttrafik.se.

 

From: Gothenburg City Airport

From: Rygge Airport

Means of transport: Taxi, bus, train
Time: 1 hour & 30 minutes (taxi not included)
       
From the airport to the nearest bus stop for buses heading for Strömstad it’s 2 km. Visit the http://www.ryg.no/kat/000056.asp for more information about how to take a taxi to the bus stop, called "Rygge hold plass E6".

One option is to get to ”Mosseporten” or Sarpsborg (Quality hotel at E6) on your own, e.g. taxi.

From these places then GoByBus (formerly Säffle bus) takes you to Knäm. www.gobybus.se. Knäm is about. 20 km south from Strömstad.

From Knäm there go buses to Strömstad, http://www.vasttrafik.se/en/. Alternatively, that you go to Strömstad on your own, e.g. taxi or someone pick you up.

A third alternative is to take the train from Rygge station to Halden station. From the airport it runs a free of charge shuttle bus http://www.en.ryg.no/kat/000054.asp. Schedule for the train to Halden you find on http://www.nsb.no/?lang=en_US.

The bus “Grensependel, nr. 111” drives between Halden and Strömstad. http://www.vasttrafik.se/en/

From: Sandefjord Airport Torp

Means of transport: Bus, train, ferry. 
Time:  Approx. 3 hours

From the airport, it is a shuttle bus to the airport’s train station. http://www.torp.no/Pages/Artikkel.aspx?pkMenu=131&pksMenu=143&Language=EN&pkssMenu=211
From there you take the train into downtown Sandefjord. Timetable: www.nsb.no.
Between Sandefjord and Strömstad there is daily ferry-service. For schedules and reservations visit: www.colorline.se.
It takes approx. 12 minutes to walk from the train station to the ferry terminal, Color Line. You can also go by taxi.

Directions to Strömstad by car

From: Stockholm   
Means of transport: Car
Time: Approx. 6 hours & 50 minutes.

From Stockholm follow signs “E20”. Meanwhile you will pass the cities: Södertälje, Eskilstuna and Arboga. When you come to Örebro you can choose to take the:

North way: turn on to “E18” and follow the signs for “Karlskoga/Oslo”. Meanwhile you will pass the cities: Karlskoga, Kristinehamn, Karlstad and Grums. After about 166 km turn left towards Storvägen and then Bengtsfors. When you arrive there drive on way 164 all the way to Skee. You will pass Dals-Ed and Bullaren. In Skee turn right in the roundabout and drive 5 km. Leave the headway on to local way 176. Now it’s 3 km left to Strömstad.

South way: Turn on to “E20”. Follow this way about 137 km, until you come to “Götene”. From there, follow local way “44” to Lidköping and then the signs to “Uddevalla/Båberg/Karlstad”. Pass Uddevalla and then turn north on “E6” towards Oslo. Drive about 72 km. Turn left (next to a gas station) on to local way 176 to Strömstad. From here it’s 10 km before you arrive in Strömstad.  

 

From: Gothenburg   
Means of transport: Car
Time: Approx. 2 hours

Drive on “E6” and follow signs to Oslo. Meanwhile you will pass: Kungälv, Stenungsund, Uddevalla, Munkedal and Tanum. After about 152 km turn left (next to a gas station) towards Strömstad and drive 10 km before you arrive.

From: Oslo   
Means of transport: Car
Time: Approx. 2 hours

Drive on “E6” and follow signs to Gothenburg. You will pass these cities: Oppergard, Vestby, Moss and Sarpsborg before you come to Svinesund. There you will pass the border/bridge between Sweden and Norway. Drive about 15 km and then turn right on to local way 176. Now it’s 3 km left before you arrive in Strömstad.

Note! You need to pay a fee in Norway on the headway at least twice.
