Indoors
There is plenty to interest and entertain both adults and children at Bohusläns museum. In the super playroom, boats can be boarded and fish caught, which can then be prepared in the playroom kitchen. Uddevalla is a raven's town, and the whole family can search among the exhibits for raven eggs marked with a letter. When enough eggs have been collected to solve the password, go to the reception to collect your reward.
In the children's corner at the town library, you can listen to music, play computer games, make jigsaw puzzles or draw with crayons.
Seamen used to come to Sveriges Sjömanshus, which is now a museum, to sign on for voyages. They travelled far and wide and came home with many interesting and fun souvenirs, some of which are exhibited here. Accommodation on board ships of those times, in both cramped seamen's quarters and a spacious captain's cabin is also depicted here.
Emaus is a small farm on the southern edge of town. The stalls house tame and friendly rabbits, miniature pigs, goats, cats and chickens. Outdoors, children can romp around in a spacious playground, and those who dare to straddle a horse can take a short pony ride.
Outdoors
Take a trip on the archipelago boat M/S Sunningen to the bathing places at Lindesnäs or Unda in Byfjorden. With a small bucket, some line, clothes pegs and mussels as bait, children can fish for crabs - a very popular pastime. There are also bathing places at the Bjursjön and Skarsjön lakes, and at Gustafsberg you will find Landbadet with both paddling and swimming pools. A brochure listing all the council bathing places is available from the tourist office.
There are many viewpoints in the region providing wonderful vistas. A climb up Smörkullen or Hafstensklippan can take your breath away in more ways than one.
Glimmingen go-cart circuit or Bokenäs Motorpark with its electric motocross bikes is an obvious destination for those who enjoy the excitement of speed and the rush of air. Mini golf and for older children, football golf, are other popular children's activities that are available.
