    Discover Sweden along Sverigeleden

Sverigeleden takes the bicycle tourist from rugged coastal areas, through rich farmlands, by beautiful rivers and lakes to green foretst and up to breathtaking mountain scenery. Sverigeleden takes the cyclist to villages and cities, historical places, ruins, castles and manor houses, runestones from the viking era, lakes and canals, well kept churches, industrial monuments, quaint fishing hamlets and so on.
Sweden’s untouched nature is probably its greatest asset. Sverigeleden is a network of roads and bicycle tracks, especially suited for cycle touring by foreign and Swedish tourists. It connects with major ferry lines for convenient bicycle transportation. The idea is to ride your bicycle in one direction and return by public transport.
About 15 000 light-green signs mark the route. As a rule, signs occur at all points where the route changes direction and at some points in between. This means that signposting is a little less dense in the north of Sweden, than in the south and the middle.

The landscape is perfect for cycling tourism and this is reflected in the joint variation and the many sights along the trail. The Trail use less congested roads, the surroundings are very scenic and the trail passes many interesting places. Here you can experience Västergötland many rivers, plateaus and castles.
Västergötland is moderately hilly and therefore usually easy biking. Fairly flat in the north and west, more varied in the southeast. Västgöta trail was inaugurated in 1992, is signposted in red and covers about 1100 km.

    Dalsland Trail

Dalsland is one of Sweden's smallest province with over 50,000 inhabitants. The landscape is known for the old mills, the magnificent scenery and the many waterways. Dalsland is full of dramatic encounters between north and south, coastal plain and simple, and not least between the forest and mountains. Dalsland is Sweden's most lake-rich landscapes and Dalsland canal linking the major rivers in Lake Vänern. Dalsland trail is for those who enjoy an active lifestyle in an exciting environment.
