Solid granite and beautiful, clear lines make the West of Sweden into a world class climbing area. Pink cliffs right next to the sea and mountains covered in lush vegetation make the climbing both varied and exciting. If you enjoy traditional secure climbing, Bohuslän, with its well-known mountains by Häller, Hallinden and Välseröd, will not disappoint. If you prefer bolted sport climbing, the islands Orust and Tjörn, and the areas around Gothenburg have plenty to offer. A bit further to the east, you'll find sport climbing of varying difficulty in beautiful surroundings, by the lake Aspen.
If you left your rope at home, there are unlimited opportunities for challenging bouldering across the granite. The island of Hönö is one of Sweden's best, and possibly most beautiful, bouldering areas. You don't even have to take off your harness in heavy rain, as you can climb indoors in the Klätterdomen Indoor Climbing Centre in Gothenburg.
