The modern Opera House

High lights in Gothenburg

See Gothenburg from the water – take a Paddan boat ride through the city’s winding, historic canal network. The trip is a magical way to get to know the port city of Gothenburg and will also take you into the bustling harbour area, characterised by striking buildings such as the modern Opera House, and an interesting collection of ships.

A visit to Haga, the bustling Old Town, is simply a must. Haga is all about quaint cobbled streets, traditional, painted wooden buildings, boutiques and enticing coffee shops where visitors can stop for the customary morning coffee and a spiced bun.

A green, open city with a compact centre, Gothenburg is very walkable and treading its streets is a great way to get to know it. Make your way down the broad Avenyn boulevard towards the harbour, walk to the city’s magnificent parks, including Gothenburg Botanical Gardens, one of the world’s leading botanical gardens; Slottskogen Park, including a zoo and a natural history museum; and the Horticultural Society Garden, an oasis
of calm a stone’s throw from Avenyn.
