Historical tour

West Sweden has a colourful history, featuring a wonderful array of interesting sites and attractions, all with amazing stories to tell. This historical package includes some of the highlights in the West Sweden region, including fortresses, Bronze Age Rock carvings, impressive castles and manor houses.

Day 1.

Check in to Grand Hotel Marstrand, built in 1892 as a summer residence for king Oscar II.
 
Morning activity: Visit Carlsten Fortress, which was built in 1658 and took 202 years to complete!
 
Lunch at Grand Hotel Tenan, Taste of West Sweden accredited, with its à la carte menu, created by chef Robert Maglia and offering classics such as Tenans´ crayfish and Africana.
  
Afternoon excursion: Vitlycke Bronze Age Rock carvings, created 3000 years ago and found on UNESCO´s World Heritages' list.

Day 2.

Morning activity: Visit to Pilane Sculture park, Tjörn, which has featured some eclectic exhibits, including a 30ft sculpture made of dinosaur bones and this year, showcases the work of famous American sculptor, Keith Edmier.
  
Lunch at Gunnebo House and Garden, a Taste of West Sweden restaurant, set within one of Sweden's most beautiful neoclassical estates.
 
Afternoon activity: Tour of the 18th century Gunnebo House and Garden, with its stunning formal garden and landscaped park.
  
Check-in and dinner at Thorskog Manor, a real Sleeping Beauty castle, where no two rooms are the same.

Day 3.

Spend the day at the fairytale-like Läckö Castle, dating back to 1298 set on the shores of Lake Vänern.
  
Check in and dinner at Bjertorp Manor, said to be the last stately home built in Art Noveau style.
