Active holidays in Dalsland

This easily accessible, peaceful province hosts two of West Sweden's major sporting events: the Dalsland Canoe Marathon and Dalsland Cross Country Mountain Bike Orientation. Taking place on 11 August 2012, the canoe marathon covers a 55km course through scenic waterways in which 1,000 competitors compete in a range of classes, catering to a wide range of age groups and levels of experience, from children to older competitors, and amateur to elite paddlers. Children cover a shorter distance of 21 km.
   
One of Europe's largest canoe races, it starts at Baldersnäs and finishes at Bengtsfors, with competitors benefiting from the energising effect of supporters cheering them on along the way. 

Dalsland Cross Country Mountain Bike Orientation is held on 5 May 2011 and offers an equally scenic challenge for activity enthusiasts. Entrants compete in teams of two over a five-mile orientation course, which starts and finishes in Bengtsfors. Men's, women's and mixed classes are available and cyclists will cover tracks, dirt roads and asphalt surfaces in their two-wheeled adventures.
