Dalsland - a mecca for kayakers and canoeists

Probably more than anything else, Dalsland is known as a mecca for kayakers and canoeists. As a service to them and to the landowners who make their land available, a large number of campsites have been established throughout the lake system

One highlight is the 55-km Dalsland Canoe Marathon+, Sweden’s toughest canoe race through Sweden’s most beautiful province.

The campsites are often located in beautiful settings, and are equipped with timbered windbreaks for about eight people and an approved fireplace surrounded by seating. Other features include an ecological toilet, firewood for guests and a combined canoeing map and 40-page handbook – Canoeland – the ultimate guide to canoeing and kayaking in the lake system of the Dalsland Canal. Canoeland includes information on environmental care, the campsites, animals and plants, canoeing techniques, planning and safety and not least, 11 different maps with suggestions for trips.

There are several canoe rental companies around the lake system.
