Anglers who visit West Sweden can choose from a unique range of exciting fishing options: Lakes with coarse pike, perch, pikeperch and many other species of white fish; Streams and rivers with brown trout, salmon, pike, perch and whitefish. In Dalsland you can fish by fly, spinning, trolling or rod. For instance when trolling, you usually fish for pike, perch, salmon, brown trout, charr and pikeperch.

For angling in different fishing waters a licence is required. Licences are normally non-transferable and can be purchased for a 24-hour period, a week or a year. In some waters you can also buy a family licence. For fishing in lake Vänern no licence is required but there are other regulations in terms of minimum size and fishing season.
