Nordic Watercolour Museum

In a beautiful setting among the smooth, flowing, granite landscape of Skärhamn on the island of Tjörn, the Nordic Watercolour Museum features works by the vanguard of the international scene, as well as classic watercolours. The museum serves as a Nordic centre for contemporary art, research and education, with an emphasis on watercolour techniques.

There are special courses under the supervision of professional painters, and you can try painting together with your children in the children’s studio. The restaurant "Vatten - gourmet och kafé” has outdoor dining in season, and its interior, as well as its food and drink, have a distinctly Scandinavian flavour.

The museum includes exhibition halls for permanent and temporary exhibitions, a children’s studio where daily children’s courses are held in summer, and an experimental workshop with advanced technical equipment for artistic work, instruction and research. Just a few metres across the water are five guest studios housed in five small waterfront cabins. They are used mainly for the museum’s operations and for individual artists, but it is also possible for the public to rent them. Back in the main building there is a museum shop with a wide range of items on sale.
