Gothenburg Culture Festival 2011 - join the party!

Vibrant Gothenburg explodes with colour during August, thanks to the Gothenburg Culture Festival, held 16-21 August 2011. The city’s pretty cobbled streets and squares are injected with more energy than ever - a wonderfully welcoming carnival atmosphere and people indulging in the culture of Sweden and worldwide.

And what's more, it's free to attend! There's a surprise around every corner and something to excite everyone, including:

- Extraordinary dance acts - from ballet to hip hop
- Live music performed by world-class acts - from rock to classical and jazz
- Drama - from street theatre to the screening of films
- Eclectic Swedish design - from sculptural exhibits to museum showcases
- Fascinating circus performances
- Stand-up comedy
- Literature - sharing engaging poetry

There will also be an array of even more scrumptious Swedish cuisine on offer around the city on market stalls. Taste the freshest of seafood or join the locals by indulging in 'fika' – top quality coffee with a pastry treat to accompany it.

There's a fantastic outdoor dining and bar culture in Gothenburg - even better during the peak of summer when the Culture Festival takes place – so visitors can also take time out to relax and unwind in one of the city's many food and drink hotspots.

Last year's festival saw almost one million visitors light up the city and with more activity than ever before, the 2011 Gothenburg Culture Festival is expected to be the best yet.

Whether you've been to before Gothenburg or not, it's one of the greatest times of the year to take in the city - a unique opportunity to experience and celebrate all that is fabulous about Swedish culture - from innovative design to the exquisite food. It's a chance to join the friendly locals and witness this cultural party!
