Väderöarna's Guesthouse and Restaurant
Väderöarna's Guesthouse & Restaurant
The Weather Islands (Väderöarna) is a cluster of several hundred mostly rocky, barren islands in the far reaches of the Fjällbacka archipelago, off the Bohuslän coast. And known as the sunniest, windiest and most westerly islands of Sweden.
So when you return to the mainland, your hair might be a mess, but never fear, you’ll have that ‘windswept and exotic’ west coast Sweden look going on. Which is all that matters.
Väderöarnas Guesthouse and Restaurant
Väderöarnas Restaurant & Guesthouse is located beautifully in an old pilothouse on a rocky isle and just a 30-minute boat trip from Fjällbacka harbour. It has double or family room options, some with gorgeous views of the turquoise waters of the harbour here.
The guesthouse is set on the main island – a wonderful retreat where guests can indulge in fresh seafood and enjoy the beautiful landscape from rocky vantage points and walks across the smooth cliffs, swimming in the ocean, or relaxing in a wood-fired sauna or hot-tub.
The restaurant is Taste of West Sweden accredited and it serves up delicacies from the sea, with a menu changing according to season and availability. The tasty mussel soup, laced with cognac, has already become a classic. Other favourites include an abundance of fresh shellfish and delicious sauces. In summer there is also a café offering sandwiches, cold drinks etc by the sea.
The guesthouse would be happy to arrange lobster fishing for fantastic west coast lobster (seasonal), as well as boat trips. Other activities include a wood-fired sauna, hot tub, guided walking tours, RIB boat tours with picnic stop-off, as well as cheese, wine, whisky and rum tasting events.
The guesthouse has 11 rooms and 30 beds, all boasting amazing sea views. It also has a sauna and hot tub, right by the crystal clear water. It is open year-round and is a perfect place to celebrate Easter, Midsummer, Christmas and New Year’s Eve - the Swedish way. The Weather Islands have large seal colonies nearby, and beautiful rugged cliffs offering natural shelter for sea kayaks gliding through the water (needs to be pre-booked).
