Hotel Fars Hatt is located in one of Scandinavia’s most interesting historic environments, close to Nordre Älv and Bohus fortress. An inn was opened at Kungälv marketplace as far back as 1684 with 8 rooms and over time the inn has now grown to 120 rooms, of which 6 are suites.
For more than 300 years, this has been a centre for business, relaxation and the enjoyment of good food.
The city of Kungälv is one of Sweden’s oldest cities and was founded in the 900’s. Fars Hatt is located at the marketplace where the old “Stadskällaren” was built by Tormo Cleasson in 1684.
In addition to our pleasant conference rooms, a good night’s sleep and delicious meals, we also offer live music, dancing and entertainment on selected weekends. As our guest, you will always have access to free parking, free film channels, free Internet and the use of our relaxation area with a gym, billiards and sauna. During the summer you will also have free use of our 25 metre outdoor swimming pool.

In the hotel garden, located along the Nordre Älv, we offer an outdoor serving area and 25 metre long swimming pool.

In a West Coast restaurant with a 300 year old history behind it, fish and shellfish are important elements. Naturally, our menu also contains game, poultry, beef and veal.
We have the capacity to host several large groups at the same time and if you would like more privacy, we can also offer you service in one of our delightful banqueting rooms, all with a view of the Nordre Älv.
During the summer you can also enjoy your meal in the sunshine at our outdoor dining area, Kastanjebryggan. We also have popular troubadour evenings during the summer where you can enjoy good music together with your fantastic meal.
In December we put out our traditional Christmas buffet with masses of tasty Christmas delicacies.
The Stenkällaren (Stone Cellar), built in 1812, is located directly behind the hotel. In the past, it was used for drying meat and storing food and for a shorter time it was also used as an ice cellar.
We now organise cosy candlelight social evenings for conferences and groups.

At Fars Hatt, we offer all the resources you need to ensure your conference is a success.
We are located 15 minutes from Gothenburg and close to Lanvetter and Säve airports.
Fars Hatt has a very strategic location, whether one travels here from near or far.
The hotel has 9 conference rooms with space for up to 180 delegates in the largest room. We also have 12 group rooms for smaller groups.
All of the rooms have daylight and are equipped with PC projectors, whiteboards, overheads and flip charts. Naturally, the rooms will be furnished according to your wishes.
The technical standard is high. Should you require special equipment we will naturally supply it for you.
After a long work day, we’ll provide you with the opportunity to socialise, listen to music, visit the sauna, play billiards or exercise in our gym. Good food and a wide range of activities in one of Scandinavia’s most interesting historic environments.

From the south: Take the E6 through Gothenburg towards Oslo. Exit at the Kungälv S. exit. Head towards the city centre. Hotel Fars Hatt is located on the right side, just after Bohus fortress. Next to the church and along Nordre Älv river.
From the north: Take the E6 towards Gothenburg. Exit towards Kungälv S., directly after the bridge over Nordre Älv river. Turn left toward Bohus. Turn left at the traffic lights. Drive towards the town centre. Hotel Fars Hatt is located on the right side, just after Bohus fortress. Next to the church and along Nordre Älv river.
By bus: The “Green Express” leaves from Nils Ericssons Terminal and stops just outside the hotel. The stop is called Fars Hatt. The journey takes approx. 20 minutes. A timetable is available from reception.
