Bäckefors church
This church was first used in 1653. The weather vane on the roof is from this year. A small church bell is dated from the 1200s however it was first used in 1653. The baptismal basin is from the Middle Ages. The church has been restored several times and it was extended in 1780. The last restoration was done in 1970. This is when the altar windows got its new colouring. The walls were clothed in woven fabric and comfortable pews were installed. The church got a new organ in 1928, which was exchanged in 1975. Initially the church was painted red and after many years with a light colour it is now back to its original colour, red. It is believed that the smithwork crosses on the cemetery were made in the old factory in Bäckefors around 200 years ago.
