Grötö got its name from an old Swedish word that means rocky ground
The Southwest part of the island, is worthy of that name, while the centre
shows a very different kind of landscape.
There you will see an old lush oak-forest, grassy beach medows and fields of
rubble-stones that in the late summer are actually sparkling of colour from
the blooming heather.
On the Northwest side, there is one of the most child-friendly sandy beaches
that our island have to offer.
Welcome to the ten islands, situated like a strand of pearls in the West Sea
and close to the sea fairway to Gothenburg. Here you will meet Bohuslän at
its very best! In our islands there are thousands of places with rocks and sandy beaches for swimming and sun-bathing in private.
You will also find well supported and child friendly beaches, sometimes connected to some of our thirteen guest harbours. There are different possibilities for those who want to stay over night; hotels, private rooms,
apartment hotels and cottages.
