Much has changed at Knalleland since it first opened in 1975. The premises have been refurbished and new buildings have been added. It is a pleasant area which attracts some serious shoppers. At Knalleland, with almost 100 shops, many of them chain stores, everything is concentrated within an area of 140,000 square metres. The success of Knalleland put Borås on the map and showed that tourism and trade could coexist quite happily. Visitors will find a blend of volume traders, chain stores, tradi-tional specialist outlets, fashion/trends, cafés, restaurants, everyday items and more.
Large and small galleries or shops with access from the street offer diversity, service, choice and experiences. Knalleland attracts around 6 million visitors a year. It is situated immediately next to Borås Zoo and Borås Camping Saltemad.
