Läckö Castle, Kållandsö

Läckö Castle

Läckö Castle is best known as Magnus de la Gardie´s magnificent castle on the shores of Lake Vänern, but it is much older by far. In 1298 Brynolf Algotsson, Bishop of Skara, laid the foundations for a fortified castle here.

Restaurang Hvita Hjorten - naturum Vänerskärgården-Victoriahuset

Hvita Hjorten Restaurant is located in a bright open area, and also has tables on the large sun terrace by the waterside. From here you get a fabulous view of Läckö Castle and Lake Vänern. The restaurant serves excellent meals for all occasions, cooked using produce from the Small Castle Garden and local vegetable growers, the fishermen of Lake Vänern, local farmers and hunters. In December we arrange Christmas parties with open fires and appetising dishes. Fully licensed.

The Small Castle Garden
Every spring digging and planting takes place in the Small Castle Garden. And every summer visitors are enraptured by the colours, arrangements and aromas, as they descend the old stone steps. The Small Castle Garden, on various levels, enclosed within high white stone walls, is an oasis in which to pause during a visit to the castle.
