    Vitlycke museum, Tanumshede

    VITLYCKE MUSEUM

    Vitlycke museum is the information and knowledge centre of the World Heritage Tanum's rock carvings in North Bohuslän. There are exhibitions, a rebuilt Bronze Age Farm, slide shows, stores and cafés at the museum. Vitlycke museum brings to life the rock carving era in many ways.
    At our Bronze Age Farm you can see how people lived 3000 years ago. There are many different activities and guided tours at the World Heritage during the summer.

    The museum shop contains a wide choice of literature and souvenirs, and in the café you can relax over a cup of coffee and taste some genuine Bohuslän dishes.

    New Exhibition: Images, Bronzes and Stories

    It takes you on a journey through time to the Bronze Age world. You get to know, Akaz, Nenna, Alawin, Glicc and Gläär - people we recreated based on archaeological finds from the graves and settlements.

    In the story of their lives and adventures, you get insight into contemporary everyday life in Tanum, and you get to go on exciting trips to Europe in search of the golden bronze - both The Sun Chariot from Odsherred, and Sky Disc of Nebra is included in the story where fiction and facts are consolidated into an exciting whole experience.

    Digital excursions to the Bronze Age

    With our new mobile app Empire of the Sun, you can make a digital rock carving journey to the Bronze Age and find rock carvings in northern Bohuslän.

    You can also try your hand at geocaching in the World Heritage area around the museum.

    Digital guide

    Rent the Vitlycke Digital Guide for a personal tour among the rock carvings on the Vitlycke Panel and the Vitlycke Path. With the help of a narrator, pictures and animations, the handheld computer gives you detailed information about rock carvings and the Bronze age.

    Experience the World Heritage on 2 wheels

    Rent a bike and experience the World Heritage Site and the 8000 year old cultural landscape of the area.

    You get a map that shows where the rock carvings are and other ancient remains in the area.

    ROCK ART SHOP

    Rock Art Shop is a beautiful and exciting museum shop with a little something for everyone. Our assortment of books covers such diverse topics as books describing bronze age children, the wonderful world of rock carvings, and scientific literature on subjects like archaeology, gender, ecology, philosophy and religion. In this exceptional shop you will also find a wide range of jewellery in bronze, silver and gold and many other items for mind, body and soul.

    THE CUPMARK CAFÉ

    Relax and admire the café's patinated bronze ceiling and the landscape view. Sandwiches, home made baked goods and light lunches are served depending on the season. The Cupmark Café is an ecological business. You and your party may also pre-book and enjoy a delicious Bronze Age inspired meal.
