Lobster Fishing Weekend in South Kosterhavet
Some things are truly special and can only be enjoyed in season. One such thing is fishing for the black gold of the ocean – lobster! Our package gives you a whole weekend on Resö with pleasant accommodation, good food and lobster fishing. A complete experience based around lobster!
When you arrive on Resö on the Friday evening, you're welcomed with a tasty two-course dinner, served in the conservatory at Resö Old School. In this old, cosy, wooden building it's easy to relax, perhaps in front of the tiled stove in the pleasant library, where you can read up on the secrets of the ocean and of lobster fishing in preparation for the following day's fishing.
After a good nights sleep and a generous breakfast buffet, it's time to make your way down to the harbour, where M/S Ariadne awaits. The journey out to the lobster pots offers plenty of beautiful views, and the crew will be able to tell you all you want to know about the surrounding area, and about lobsters.
During the fishing trip, everyone gets to help to pull up the lobster pots and experience the feeling of excitement as the pots approach the surface. Lobsters, crabs, and even the odd fish, usually find their way in. After the fishing, lunch is laid out at some pleasant place on one of the islands, and to give you a foretaste of the evening's meal, we serve a warming lobster soup, complemented by deep-filled sandwiches.
Once back in Resö harbour, we cook the lobster and crabs together on the pier. You will also be given the opportunity to enjoy freshly cooked crab claws. After a few hours at sea you may want to do something else before dinner. Afternoon tea is served at Resö Gamla Skola, and there is time and space to rest, socialise, take a sauna, go for a walk, or do nothing at all!
The day's main attraction, the lobster, is then served freshly cooked and with delicious accompaniments, like sauces, local cheeses and home-baked bread. Before the coffee there is even time for a delicious dessert.
You finish the weekend at your own pace on the Sunday, with a generous breakfast and perhaps a walk across the cliffs, or a bike ride around the island.
The price is per person and includes Friday and Saturday night in a shared double room, two-course dinner on the Friday and Lobster Dinner on the Saturday, breakfast buffet on two days, afternoon tea on the Saturday, lobster fishing trip with M/S Ariadne including picnic lunch, and shellfish cooking on the pier. Access to communal areas, including TV-room and library, conservatory and sauna, as well as garden and bikes.
The rooms are available from 15.00 on the date of arrival and must be vacated no later than 12 on the date of departure unless otherwise agreed. The dinner on the first evening is served at around 19.30.
Drinks are not included. To Resö Gamla Skola you can bring your own drinks.
Life vests are available to borrow.
In 2012, this package is available every weekend in October, starting Sept 28-30.
The price for this package is 3 995 SEK per person.
The island of Resö is in the north of Bohuslän, about 10 kilometres north of Tanum and 20 kilometres south of Strömstad, and is connected to the mainland by a bridge.
By car: Turn off the E6 by sign for Resö and follow this road across the neighbouring island of Galtö, until you have travelled about 0.5 km onto Resö itself. You will then see Resö Gamla Skola (Old School) on your right, just after an S-bend.
Alternatively, travel by bus, see www.vasttrafik.se for times and prices. There is a bus stop right outside the school entrance. Resö also has a nice guest harbour for anyone arriving by boat.
