Smögen is a popular haunt for sun-worshippers, anglers, divers and lovers of life. It may not be the oldest fishing village in Bohuslän, but is´t unique atmosphere and buildings are well preserved.
The first time Smögen was namedin print was 1594, and the little canal "Smyghålet" (creephole) furthest in the harbour is thought to be the basis for the name of Smögen.

Sweden´s second largest fish auction is in Smögen. The fishing boats land their catches of fish and shellfish here, that you can buy a while later in the fish shop on the corner. Should you want to catch your own fish, then just climb onto the rocks beside the sea and cast your line.

The quay on Smögen - Smögenbryggan - is withour doubt the best-known in Bohuslän. Tourists come from near and far to see the lively boat traffic, go shopping in the many boutiques along the quay, and eat at one of the many restaurants.

If you like to see how the locals once lived and worked, visit "Fiskarstugan", a furnished fisherman´s cottage from about 1850. You can see furniture, clothes, photographs and much more. The cottage is at the rear of the quay, and signs show the way.

Amusement in Smögen is something special. Events follow one after the other, and the atmosphere in the taverns is always in top form.
