. . . we have many names for the things we love. Many still prefer to use the old names despite the change to the collective name Kungshamn over 40 years ago. Kungshamn is considered the central town of Sotenäs. During the 1970's a bridge was built over to Smögen. Central Kungshamn has undergone changes over the years, whilst Fisketången retains its traditional character with its boat-houses and ‘liars’ benches’.
The summer months are filled with activity in Kungshamn, with people coming from miles around to enjoy one of the ‘Pearls of the West Coast’.
Hovenäset
The village is just prior to the southern approach to Kungshamn. A genuine idyllic village with boat-houses and narrow alleyways. Hovenäs Bridge, which unites Hovenäset with Kungshamn, was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It is said to be unique in that it is Sweden’s largest granite arch bridge.
Väjern
Väjern lies one kilometre prior to the northern approach to Kungshamn. It was once a tiny fishing village, but due to considerable new development, it is almost a suburb of Kungshamn
