Gunnebo House and Gardens
Gunnebo House and Gardens is one of Sweden’s most beautiful neo-classical estates, located just south of Gothenburg at Mölndal. Hellekis Mansion
Soak up the cultural heritage of Hellekis Mansion, which dates from the Middle Ages, about two hours from Gothenburg at Lake Vänern. It was a big hit with Linnaeus and enjoys a beautiful setting by the foot of Kinnekulle Mountain, next to the nature reserve of Munkängarna. Find out more about the gardens, with a tour by guides dressed as Linnaeus and his wife on 2-3 July, and dine with a Linnaeus-themed menu at the restaurant. Flower power at Peter Korn’s garden
In just a couple of years Peter Korn has made his own botanical garden, just outside Gothenburg, with flowers and plants from all over the world. Two hectares have been lovingly tended and the garden is now a mecca for the flower enthusiast. www.peterkornstradgard.se

Rostock’s herb gardens
The Herb Gardens in Rostock are found next to a beautiful old mineral spring. There are around 350 different herbs in the garden all with their own use, from cookery to medicines, dyes and potions, while old-fashioned ornamental plants around the cottage create a picturesque scene. The mighty oak of Stola Manor House
According to tradition the big oak tree in front of Stola Manor House, at Lidkoping, was planted in 1746 by Linnaeus for the owners the Ekeblad family, whose name in Swedish means oak leaf. The house mainly dates from 1713-19 and its furniture includes a special reading chair of the type used by Linnaeus for studying and lectures. www.lidkoping.se/stola

The herb garden Mon – a living museum at Trollhättan
The herb garden Mon, outside the town of Trollhättan about 60km north-east of Gothenburg, is one of Scandinavia’s largest and most species-rich. The garden is a fantastic living museum, with old and new plants from around the globe, and around 1,000 different species and varieties. Visitors can enjoy afternoon tea with freshly baked scones surrounded by the scent of herbs. www.almark.se

Floby Arboretum - Tree-mendous
