Delicacies along the Göta Canal is a theme in 2008, including visits by famous chefs, crayfish festivals, harvest festivals and much more to make your canal visit even more enjoyable.

Canal exhibitions
“Letters of Baltzar von Platen” will be shown at the Canal Museum in Sjötorp from June to August.

Sing-along season
There are many spots along the canal where you can join in on a sing-along on warm summer nights.

Midsummer celebrations
Celebrate Midsummer by the canal in Sjötorp, Norrkvarn and Vassbacken.

Music and theatre in Forsvik
Monday nights from 14 July to 18 August are music nights at Gjuteriet in Forsvik, with something for all tastes. A summer variety show premieres on 10 June in the same place. (In Swedish only).

The launch of the Eric Nordevall II
The paddle steamer Eric Nordevall II will be launched this summer in Forsvik and towed to Motala to have the steam engine installed.

Lots going on in Norrkvarn
The Baltzar von Platen Lodge at the Norrkvarn locks has all sorts of activities going on for all ages. There’s Professor Gullström’s World with enchanted tree stumps and daily children’s theatre, a restaurant with songs by Navvy Linnea and entertainment on the dock all summer long.
