Spas In the 19th century tourism came to Bohuslän. Salty baths and seaweed attracted wealthy city dwellers to the picturesque fishing communities. Just like today, the holiday with its free time was a way to get away from stress and everyday life. Famous doctors embraced this trend and extolled the virtues of bathing, for the body and soul. In Marstrand, Lysekil, Gustavsberg and Strömstad special spas where built. Several of these are still there, as a reminder of the Spa-life of the period.
