DAYS OF THE FALLS
Days of the Falls – One of Sweden’s oldest festivals starts every third Friday in July. This is a festival for all ages, both in terms of music and activities. The Days of the Falls host many performances, stands, theatre, dance, music and sports events. Also, the waterfalls are activated at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 11 pm. The festival ends with a big firework.
AQUA BLUE WATER AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
Bring your family and friends and try out some sailing, aquarelle painting, fishing, or canoeing. Watch the waterskiing and the sailing races, visit the boat show or participate in the beach volleyball competition. Enter the salmon fishing competition in the harbour canal. Aqua Blue offers you lovely food and hundreds of varying
activities with water and music as a central theme. Please visit Aqua Blue in June, and enjoy the murmur of Lake Vänern!
VETERAN CAR MEET
Veteran car exhibition – Every Wednesday evening during the months of June – August, the area between the upper lock and the Canal Museum is filled with well-polished and –preserved veteran cars. It’s a meeting place for both car- and mingling enthusiasts. Many also use the opportunity to savour the Locks Café’s enowned shrimp sandwiches in the evening sun.
VOLKSWAGEN MEETING
VW Airheads are a club for enthusiasts of aircooled VW’s. The VW meet takes place in July, on Sweden’s most beautiful site for events such as this one; Sanden under the Dalbo bridge. It is a gathering that has become one of Europe’s largest for air-cooled Beatles and vans. Come and see a round 350 amazing, original, modified and custom-built cars from all parts of Europe. Annually, the meeting hosts around 350 cars from all parts of Europe.
AURORA CHAMBER MUSIC
After the success from former years the Aurora Chamber Music Festival 2008 together with the Aurora String Quartet and the Aurora Festival Strings are bringing a number of exciting and international top artists to Trollhättan in July The recent Nordic world artists and also this years holders of the Aurora Scholarship holders, will be performing. New for this year is the symphony orchestra competition with more than 100 young contestants.
EXPERIENCE HALLE-HUNNEBERG
Enjoy a feeling of old times and visit the traditional charcoal stack of Erdalen, Hunneberg that will be inaugurated in September 2008. The autumn is welcomed to Halle-Hunneberg with mushroom exhibition, pony riding, children’s activities and more at Bergagården. At the end of August Bergens dag (the Day of the mountains)
is celebrated at Grinnsjö with tar boiling and coffee with field-baked bread.
STRÖMKARLSRALLY
SMK Trollhättans national rally takes place every September. The track’s length is 120 km, and the start and finish are at the Saab car museum.
RIVERCULTURE
Once autumn has come around, you can go and see the artists and craftsmen of the vale of the river Göta in their studios and workshops. This event is a wellappreciated tradition that becomes stronger by the year.
OCTOBER MARKET
This market tradition, which originated in the early 1500’s, was initially held at Vänern’s southernmost bay, Vassbotten. Close to the town of Brätte, the peasantry from Dalsland and Västergötland, as well as the merchants from the nearest cities sold their wares. Nowadays, this autumn market is called the October market. Large numbers of people come from near and far to visit the annual market, which, in Trollhättan, takes place on the first Saturday in October. In Vänersborg, it’s held on the last Saturday in October.

prior to the first Advent Sunday. Handicrafts, Christmas food, books, music, and hot mulled wine in an antique environment. Visit Brålanda’s world-renowned Christmas Parade with approximately 2,500 Santa Clauses and a Christmas fair. On the first Advent Sunday, the cultural centre Folkets Hus in Trollhättan is transformed into Father Christmas’ workshop. Here, genuine self-made handicraft is on offer, ranging from wooden articles and chandeliers to turkey and Christmassy beverages.
