Ale
Ale offers the opportunity to enjoy a comfortable life, with affordable housing in incredibly scenic settings. With its close proximity and ease of access to Gothenburg, many people head into the city to study and work as well as for leisure and pleasure. Such convenience and ease of travel mean that the people who live in Ale have more time than others. Whatever the time of day, there are never any tailbacks on route 45, which passes through Ale. An unusual freedom in the Gothenburg region!

Route 45 is heading towards a new future. We are in the midst of plans to make this a beautiful and modern road. Once extension work on the 45 is completed, there will be favourable changes to the surrounding environment. If you would like to visit Ale, leave the 45 and discover the many fine fishing lakes, the open landscape and top-quality accommodation.

Surte
If you live in Surte, you have Gothenburg as your neighbour just 15 minutes away by bus. At the same time, you have excellent swimming spots and hiking trails just around the corner. If I say Surte Glassworks and Alexander Samuelsson, the creator of the world-famous Coca-Cola bottle, most people will say “Aha!”. Surte is a former industrial community that bustles with life. A main shopping street, central housing, a cultural centre and a diverse business community comprising some 400 companies. This small town has public services, leisure facilities, nursery and comprehensive schools, a library and the region’s tourist information office.
Surte cannot be described without mentioning bandy and the local bandy club Ale-Surte BK. The club has made Surte a nationally recognised name. Surte is special because of its small-scale charm and close proximity to almost everything. Number of inhabitants: about 3000.

Bohus
Bohus offers a full community life and a strategic location for its residents and businesses. Kungälv, Gothenburg and the sea are just a short drive away. Commercial and public services, nursery and comprehensive schools, sports and leisure facilities and excellent housing are all in walking distance. Walk up the hill from Bohus centre towards the Jennylund ice rink and recreation area and you’ll understand what we mean by strategic location. When you gaze down on the valley and river, Bohus lies at your feet.
Ale’s largest company, Eka Chemicals AB, is situated between route 45 and the river. The company has about 850 employees and manufactures chemicals for the pharmaceutical, pulp and paper industries.
Number of inhabitants: about 3000

Nödinge
In pagan times, Nödinge was a cult and sacrificial site and later became a centre of religious activities. The small village grew in the 1970s to become a large community with well-developed services. The new shopping centre alongside route 45 is an asset to the whole of Ale. Ale high school, which is much more than an educational establishment, has become a local gathering place where everyone can enjoy cultural activities such as theatre, music, dance and song. The school buildings also house a sports hall, recreation centre, theatre and music rooms as well as Ale’s main library.
Number of inhabitants: about 3700

Nol
In Ale, you can live in a fairly large populated area without being packed in like sardines. In Nol, you can spread your wings and enjoy your own space. Good housing is one of the many benefits of living in Nol, where there are terraced houses with tenancy rights and tenant-owner properties with their own ground-floor entrances. Small schools that offer a secure and caring environment for children make Nol a very attractive area for families.
Number of inhabitants: about 3500

Alafors
Alafors has one of the most beautiful sports grounds in the region. Here at Sjövallen you can play miniature golf, swim in the lake and watch football. In snow-filled winters, Himlabacken ski slope is open to the public and lit up in the evenings. Number of inhabitants: 1700

Älvängen
Älvängen, with its 4000 inhabitants, is a small town with about 50 shops and excellent public services. The culture centre is a melting pot for activities and sports, and has its own café. A Viking farmstead is taking shape just south of Älvängen.

Alvhem
The village of Alvhem is furthest north in Ale and the home of Alvhem’s Kungsgård with its rich, cultural, historical and natural environment. It is in this beautiful setting that golfers can enjoy Ale Golf Club’s superb facilities with its 18-hole course, a 9-hole course, a club house, driving range, restaurant and cafeteria. Once the golf clubs have been tucked away, take a stroll to some of the many ancient remains that can be seen in Alvhem. Number of inhabitants: about 250

Skepplanda

Unspoilt countryside, historical monuments and close to a wonderfully beautiful golf course. The northern part of Ale has a lot to offer. As you approach Skepplanda, you’ll be struck by how old and new blend together. On the left, you’ll notice the milestone dating from 1769 and, on the right, the recently-built clubhouse at the Forsvallen football grounds. Most public services are in and around Albotorget and the popular swimming pool and sports hall are just a short walk away. Number of inhabitants: about 2000
