Vänerland
The Vänerland Association consists of 17 towns around Lake Vänern working to develop THE VÄNERLAND EXPERIENCE. We want to create a positive image of the Väner Region by, among other things, working for high quality in everything that is on offer around the lake, whether products, events or services.

At the centre of the work of the Vänerland Association is obviously Lake Vänern, this majestic inland sea. The Association gives businesses, towns, authorities and organisations the opportunity to work together to create a platform for developing tourism and visitors trade in the region. Six large areas are prioritised: culture, nature, fishing, golf, boating and Active Vänerland, the latter incorporating events.

Vänerland is a paradise for the adventurous, for the explorer, for the gourmet and not least for anyone with an interest in sports, culture and nature.

Hökensås Angling
Hökensås Angling is situated 45 km north of Jönköping on the western side of Lake Vättern.
The area covers around fifty lakes within the nature reserve Hökensås and Hökensås Angling offers fishing for rainbow and brown trout in around thirty lakes. You can fish from a boat or float-tube or wade out into the water for a better catch. But you can just as well stay on the shore and sit safely behind your rod waiting for a bite. The lakes are divided according to the method of fishing; fly fishing, spinning and angling – some of the lakes allow fishing with for example power bait, worm and shrimp. Ten of the lakes can be hired for private use.

Most of the time the wind sighs slowly in the sparse pine forest and the moss on the ground is soft.  In the autumn the grounds are full of blueberries, lingonberries and mushrooms. Even cloudberries can be found on the marshes and with a bit of luck you can see elk, deer, lynx, fox and hare among the fir trees. Black-throated diver breeds here, but Tengmalm’s owl, great wood grouse and goldeneye also like this area. The nature is similar to that in Norrland with its barren appearance. In this calm oasis, not far from major roads, you will find peace to fish for rainbow or brown trout.

Hire-lakes
At Hökensås we offer 10 lakes for hire. All equipment needed for the fishing can also be hired. We can also arrange food and drink by the lake. All hire-lakes have barbeques and tables if you prefer to bring your own food.

Twelve fishery conservation areas are today included in the Fiskeland information system and the number of fishing waters amount to around 50 lakes and watercourses: big lakes, small tarns and streams, as well as information on for example fish species, regulations and suggestions for suitable accommodation whilst fishing.

Fiskeland aims to make things easier for anglers and supply information on for example fishing permits, suitable accommodation, boat rental, fishing waters, species etc. Here interested visitors should quickly get the help they need before their fishing trip to Dalsland, Värmland or Norway.

The Örekil River’s salmon fishing
Bohuslän has more to offer fishermen than just deep-sea fishing. In Munkedal, the salmon fishing will soon start in the Örekil River.

The fishing season starts on the 15th May and ends on the 30th September. The river is divided into three sections, A, B and C, and in the top two sections special fly fishing areas have been marked out. Just like in previous years, ‘alternate-day fishing’ applies for sections A and B, where 20 one-day permits are sold for each section in turn. In the section where the permits are valid, nobody else is allowed to fish, apart from a maximum of 15 annual permit holders. For the other section, three one-day permits are sold. Here, fishing right holders are also allowed to fish, as are a maximumof 15 annual permit holders. Pre-booking of fishing permits can be made after the 3rd April 2006.

Marketplace 7-Härad
The Marketplace 7-Härad project aims to develop and value the fishing tourism in Sjuhärad and Västra Götaland (Herrljunga, Bollebygd, Borås, Ulricehamn, Mark, Svenljunga, and Tranemo). The aim is to increase the number of eco-tourists, thereby helping the tourist industry in rural areas without ruining natural resources. The project actively markets Sjuhärad’s fishing facilities and recreation businesses. An important part of our work is to examine how the fishing tourism affects nature and the local culture.
On the new Marketplace 7-Härad website it will be possible to book fishing packages in Sjuhärad as well as get information about a number of fishery conservation areas and much more that is both exciting and worth reading.
