South Bohuslän is the area of Kungälv, Tjörn, Orust and Stenungsund

Two large islands, surrounded by many smaller is-lands, to the west of a forested mainland, an incomp-arable natural combination for those who like to indulge in a little of everything. Welcome to South Bohuslän!

Is part of the trunk road, Tjörnbroleden, which connects Tjörn to the mainland by Stenungsund. The Tjörn Bridge is one of three bridges along Tjörnbroleden.

In 1308 the Norwegian king Haakon Magnusson founded the castle of Bohus, to serve as a stronghold against the Swedes. The province of Bohuslän then belonged to Norway.
