HORNBORGA LAKE

Hornborga LakeThe nature reserve at Hornborga Lake is one of Europe’s most interesting bird lakes with more than 250 species. The lake is most famous for the thousands of cranes that return every year on their flight north, and also as they head south again.

One way to preserve endangered species is to place them under protection. If you want to pick flowers, remember that many species may not be picked.

ÖSTEN LAKE

Östen is an internationally known stopover point for birds. In spring and autumn, you can hear whooper swans and bean geese as they fly over the lake.

VALLE HÄRAD

Valle härad on the west side of Billingen is a gently rolling kame landscape, with many lakes. It was formed when the inland ice receded about a thousand years ago.

BILLINGEN

In May the slopes turn white from the wild cherry blossoms, and a fantastic spring flora welcomes us. Up on Billingen’s plateau you can find wild wetlands and the forests.
