Bare mountains with wonderful views

The reserve is situated between the lakes Djup and Ånimmen in Åmål community. The area is very hilly, and the altitude varies from 50 to 142 meters above sea level. Landforms and geology in the nature reserve are unique even compare to the whole country.

The bedrock is dominated by the characteristic quartzite, and is forming long, high mountain ridges. These almost bare mountain ridges are often called "knattar" in Swedish, which can derived to the name. Forests and magnificent landscape characterize the area.

Hiking trail

Length: 6,5 km
Type of trail: Straight
There are two starting points for the trail, one in the north and one in the south, the hiking trail goes in a straight line between the two starting points. There is a parking space at both starting points. The hiking trail is straight so you need to walk back the same way you came to get back to where you started. The trail is well marked and there are stairs where the hiking trail runs steeply upwards.

The Ronia mountain

There are several nice mountain peaks with stunning views here. Sörknatten is known for being one of the recording sites for the film “Ronia, the Robber's Daughter”, written by Astrid Lindgren. It was here she made her famous spring scream.
