European Oyster Opening Championship, 25 January
On 25 January the European oyster opening elite will gather at the Nova Arena in Trollhättan to compete in the European Oyster Opening Championship 2020. Come and support your favourite and enjoy being part of an exclusive event to choose the best of the best.

Passion for Food, 28 February - 1 March
The Passion for Food Festival (Passion för Mat) is now Sweden’s best known food show, a genuine treat for everyone who loves to cook! A show that is unique, exciting and craves high standards of exhibitors' food & drink products, which represent good taste and genuine quality. All based around carefully selected exhibitors and enthusiastic, knowledgeable and interested professional chefs.

June:
Sillens dag (Herring Day), Klädesholmen - 6 June
Sillens Dag is a regular event that always takes place on Sweden’s National Day (6 June) on Klädesholmen. The aim of the event is to celebrate one of Sweden’s oldest food traditions, the herring! Come and experience a festival with a herring lunch by the harbour, a local market and music. The Herring of the Year will be launched during the day and you can even have a go at pickling your own midsummer herring.

Sillens helg (Herring Weekend), Marstrand – 6-7 June
For the 10th year in a row Herring Weekend will again be taking place on the 6-7 June on Marstrand. The event aims to shine a spotlight on herring and Marstrand’s historic importance as centre for the West Swedish herring trade as well as to celebrate Swedish food traditions. On Marstrand places to eat compete over who makes the best pickled herring and you can purchase a Herring Pass to sample their fantastic efforts and vote for which you think is tastiest. The Herring Pass also entitles you to free activities and reduced prices on selected other activities and products in Marstrand.

August:
GLUPSK på Dalsland (GREEDY for Dalsland), date tba
During "GLUPSK på Dalsland" you can experience a wonderful mixture of food, meals, music, art and culture. In the lovely surroundings of Fengersfors Mill local growers, bakers, beer brewers, fishermen, beekeepers, sausage makers and sheep farmers will show their wares, accompanied by craftspeople, artists, musicians and writers. Come and enjoy using all your senses here – you can taste, smell, sample, feel, buy, learn and just be.
September:
Oyster Day, Grebbestad, 5 September
Oyster Day is an annual event that has become a Swedish classic for oyster lovers from near and far. Visit Grebbestad on 5 September and enjoy oyster menus in restaurants, an oyster and champagne bar and exhibitions.

Lobster premiere, Bohuslän, 21 September
The main event on the West Coast, the Lobster Premiere, takes place on the first Monday after the 20 September at 7am. That’s when the boats glide out in the dawn light to set their lobster pots, kicking off a lobster fest that echoes between jetties and luxury restaurants all over the country. Join a lobster fisherman on a trip out to sea and let’s hope that you land a good catch.

FOOD FEAST in West Sweden showcases local food and gives you the opportunity to find new favourites and hidden gems. The map highlights around 130 foodie places to visit in our region. You can taste, smell, feel and see a small portion of all the fantastic food that is produced all over West Sweden. Each place has its own history, its own stories and its own tastes.
