The Edible Country - Ramsvik
Booking the unique table on Ramsvikslandet in Bohuslän, presents you with a fabulous combination - nature’s own ingredients, salt sprayed aromas, and smooth sea rocks.
Ramsvikslandet’s nature reserve in Sotenäs county has, not without good reason, become known as the kingdom of the rocks. The table is placed directly on the smooth rocks furthest out on the northern tip of the island. The view from the edge of the table is of the grey/pink granite outcrops, and an open sea as far as the eye can see. A stone’s throw from the table is Tångevik, which once was a busy stone cutting community. The table is a 15 minute walk from Ramsvik Cottages & Camping, who are responsible for table bookings.
Book the table
The table can be booked on Fridays from May to September. There are 12 places round the table and it can only be booked by one company.Book the table at Ramsvik

Fun fact! – Did you know that the table at Ramsvik was made by the Dalsland firm Fridh & Hells Bygg? Robert Fridh and Jonas Fred Hell were also behind the building of the stunning glass cabins in Dalsland (The 72 Hour Cabin).
Food from the sea
Here on the west coast fish and shellfish reign supreme. Around 90 percent of Sweden’s oysters are harvested in West Sweden, and it’s from here that most of the herring, mackerel, prawns, crayfish , mussels and lobsters eaten in Sweden come from. The menu when you book a table at Ramsvik consists of a proper classic Swedish summer dish – herring and potatoes. The recipe was put together by top chef Thomas Sjögren, who clearly knows that good food doesn’t need to be complicated.Thomas won the prestigioustitle ofCook of the Year 2015, and amongst other things runs Skärets Krog restaurant in Smögen.
A paradise for walkers
Out on the kingdom of the rocks you don’t just find pink granite boulders, there are also several walking trails. You can go on hikes here from 1.5 up to 16 km long, edged by devil’s cauldrons, open coastal meadows and potentially one of this coastline’s most Instagram friendly sea views. The popular Soteleden Trail also makes a detour out on Ramsvik.
Alongside walking there are a range of adventurous activities you can book via Ramsviks Cottages and Camping. Why not try sea fishing, diving, kayaking or nature photography?
While you happen to be visiting Bohuslän take the opportunity to explore the summer idyll Smögen, say hi to the animals in Nordens Ark, or snorkel in the Kosterhavet. See more tips on close to nature experiences in the area.
