The Edible and The Drinkable Country – Ramsvik

The table is placed directly on the smooth rocky shoreline at the tip of the island’s northern cape. If you gaze out from the edge of the table all you’ll see are pink granite rocks and the open ocean. Booking the table in such a unique position on Ramsvikslandet in Bohuslän gives you a wonderful combination, of natural ingredients from the sea, the scent of salt spray and smooth sea worn rocks.

Booking the unique table on Ramsvikslandet in Bohuslän presents you with a wonderful combination,  of natural ingredients from the sea, the scent of salt spray and smooth sea worn rocks.

Not unsurprisingly, Ramsvikslandet Nature Reserve in the county of Sotenäs has become known as the Kingdom of the Rocks. The table is placed directly on the smooth rocks at the tip of the island’s northern cape. If you gaze out from the edge of the table all you’ll see are pink granite rocks and the open ocean as far as the eye can see. A stone’s throw from the table lies Tångevik, which once was a busy stonecutting community. The table is 15 minutes’ walk from lovely Ramsvik Cottages & Camping, who manage the table bookings.

Book the table at Ramsvik

The table is bookable on Fridays from 6 May to 2 October.

Food from the sea

The West Coast can truly be called the home of fish and shellfish. Around 90 percent of Sweden’s oysters are picked in Bohuslän and most of the herring, mackerel, prawns, langoustines, mussels and lobster that are eaten in Sweden are also fished here. When you book the table on Ramsvik you’ll be making a real classic when it comes to Swedish summer food – herring and potatoes. The recipe was created by top chef Thomas Sjögren, who’s very aware that good food doesn’t need to be complicated. Thomas won the prestigious Swedish Chef of the Year competition in 2015 and runs Skärets Krog in Smögen among other restaurants.

Ramsvik also offers the drink experience The Drinkable Country. Länk till artikel om TDC When you book this experience you will receive an ingredients basket with a drinks kit and the main ingredients you need to mix your own drink made to a recipe from one of Gothenburg’s best bartenders, Josefine Thorén from Bar Bruno. The drink can be enjoyed watching the sun set from the table with local snacks.

Ramsvik is in Sotenäs county, in the middle of the Bohuslän coast. From Gothenburg it takes around 90 minutes to get to this lovely rocky landscape.

A paradise for walkers

Out on the kingdom of the rocks you don’t just find pink granite boulders, there are also several walking trails. You can go on hikes here from 1.5 up to 16 km long, edged by devil’s cauldrons, open coastal meadows and potentially one of this coastline’s most Instagram friendly sea views. The popular Soteleden Trail also makes a detour out on Ramsvik.

Alongside walking there are a range of adventurous activities you can book via Ramsviks Cottages and Camping. Why not try sea fishing, diving, kayaking or nature photography?

While you happen to be visiting Bohuslän take the opportunity to explore the summer idyll Smögen, say hi to the animals in Nordens Ark, or snorkel in the Kosterhavet. See more tips on close to nature experiences in the area.
