Bathing spots in Hjo

  • Visit Hjo, Hjo turistinformation

Wherever you are in this town, lake Vättern is always close. That’s why it’s easy to take a quick and refreshing dip on a hot summer’s day. There are several bathing areas, both in and outside the town centre.

In Hjo itself you can, for example, bathe at Guldkroksbadet’s sandy beach or in the tempered pools, with no admission fee, or take a dip further south along the so-called ”beach stroll”. If you instead prefer to go out on the lake, you can take a steamboat ride with Trafik, enjoy a quiet moment in the wood-fired floating sauna in the wharf, or why not rent a paddleboard and set off on the calm waters of Lake Vättern?

Guldkroksbadet - public outdoor pool area

Guldkroksbadet is a public outdoor pool area with connecting beach by lake Vättern. This recreation centre is located right in the harbour, close to restaurants, cafées and the town centre with all its boutiques.

The outdoor pools are open 2 July - 15 August 2021.

Due to Covid-19 the pool area is open with restrictions, which means a limited number of people are allowed to access the area (enough space to be available for each company).

More information about the current Covid-situation in Sweden please visit here >>.

Opening hours Guldkroksbadet recreation centre:

  • Weekdays 10 am - 4 pm, weekends 10 am - 5 pm
  • Exercise swim area will be offered weekdays: 7-7:30 am & 5-6 pm.

The beach is available 24 hours, every day of the week - with no restrictions. If you would like more information, please contact us at Hjo Tourist Information Center >>.

Strandpromenaden is a beach stroll just south of the market square. The stroll stretches for about 850 metres, along the road Jönköpingsvägen. It contains grass areas, small beaches, jettys, public BBQ and access to public toilet (furthest south).

Lake Mullsjön

Lake Mullsjön is a small lake situated outside the town center, approximately 4 kilometres west of Hjo. Here you can visit the small beach Varpete (located on the south side of the lake) or Stämmorna (located north side of the lake).

What's the temperature in the lake?

Here you can see the temperature both in lake Vättern and in lake Mullsjön >>
