Focus on organic food

Chef Patrik Sewerin focus on organic food at Gunnebo House and Gardens.

Gunnebo Coffee House and Restaurant is located in the lush kitchen gardens at Gunnebo House. The gardens  were designed at the same time as the house in the 1780s. In the gardens, root vegetables, salads and spices are harvested for the shortest delivery route, with a few steps into the building and the awaiting chef, Patrik Sewerin.
"We are proud to be able to guarantee our guests good ingredients, every day, year round. Our kitchen gardens are entirely organic", says Patrik.

Gunnebo Coffee House and Restaurant was the first restaurant in West Sweden to achieve Swedish organic label KRAV's highest certification with more than 90% certified organic ingredients. In 2014 Gunnebo was appointed The Sustainable Cafe of the Year by the White Guide for the ecological experience and the unique environment.

"Of course we are proud of the awards and honors we have been awarded. It is an honor to receive an acknowledgment and appreciation of something you worked so long for and it's fun to show our guests that we are working wholeheartedly for a full organic experience."

The door between the kitchen and the restaurant is wide open. The chefs have direct contact with lunch guests when they hand over the plates. Patrik is wearing a big smile on his face as he works in the kitchen.

"All of the dishes are inspired by the location, the history and the current season - whether it's lunch or dinner party. The menus we present are playful with a major focus on the green."

Patrik emphasizes the collaboration between chefs, bakers and gardeners as the best thing with his job.
"It's amazing how playful and inventive we can be. Sometimes we cook in the brick oven and use wood from the forest outside the windows. I simply love it!"

Gunnebo Coffee House and Restaurant is open year round and Patrik tells us that they have many regulars.
"Several of our lunch guests in the summer return to Christmas, when we have preserved flavors of the year. Our regular lunch guests book their wedding here; they know they will get a menu far from the ordinary."
