In Skaraborg you will find unique fishing possibilities. The location in between the two largest lakes of the country, lake Vänern and lake Vättern, and the large number of forest lakes makes it the perfect destination for fishing.

Vättern
Fishing with handheld equipment in Lake Vättern is free, and many people travel far to go trolling for salmon, brown trout and arctic char. The lake is also suitable for fishing from the sea shore.

Hökensås
Hökensås is an area with plenty of lakes. Many of them are filled with crystal clear spring water, and some of them are forest lakes with darker water. Go fishing for planted rainbow trout, brown trout and arctic char.

Tiveden
Tiveden national park is one of southern Scandinavias real untouched wilderness areas. In Tiveden there is a fishing water for everyone; both fly fishing, angling, spinning and ice fishing is possible to pursue in lakes of different character and size. Game fish is planted regularly.

Skagern
The lake Skagern is Sweden’s 18th largest lake and has a depth of 75 meters at its most. You can fish for over 20 different species of fish, and the lake offers a particularly good fishing for zander, common perch and northern perch.

Baltak
In Baltak, three kilometers south of Tidaholm, you can go fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout in the streaming water of the river Tidan. The whole distance is almost three kilometers and offers a great variation with small rapids and calm waters, suitable for fly fishing.

Unden
Unden is one of our country’s finest lakes when it comes to fishing char, and it has a clear cold water. The lake has an average depth of 34 meters, and the deepest part is 108 meters. Go fishing for arctic char, brown trout, european whitefish, northern pike, common perch, burbot and whitefish.

Vänern
Lake Vänern is one of Sweden’s greatest lakes when it comes to fishing for northern pike. There is also a good chance to catch zander, asp, common perch and burbot. The lake is most famous for its fine salmon waters. Fishing in Lake Vänern is free of charge.

Viken
The water in Lake Viken has a high quality, and the average depth is between 10-15 meters. Göta Canal goes straight through the lake, which makes Lake Viken the highest point of the canal with its 91,5 meters above sea level. You can fish for northern pike, common perch and zander, but also burbot and whitefish. 

Fishing permit is required in all lakes except Lake Vänern and Vättern.
