Outdoor map of Trollhättan
Trollhättan offers unique opportunities for outdoor life and excursions both in the city and in the countryside. The outdoor map presents outdoor areas and excursion destinations with everything from large untouched forests to outdoor gyms and playgrounds.
Follow a marked trail or let nature and your joy of discovery show the way. The possibilities are great, both in the areas the map presents and in nature outside.
With the outdoor map, we want to inspire you to an active leisure that contributes to experiences, health and well-being. If you want to download the map as a pdf, do so by clicking here!
There is no easier way to exercise than to run. Find your own track along footpaths, gravel roads, paths or on any of the marked exercise tracks. Facilities with exercise tracks in different lengths are available at Skidstugan in Strömslund, Munkebo friluftsgård, Slätthultsgården and Rödjan.
Göta älv offers great opportunities for paddle right in the middle of Trollhättan. You can paddle along the boardwalk or explore the Stallbacka Islands. The Slumpåns winding arches and several of the larger lakes are other appreciated paddle waters. The lake Trehörningen is easily accessible for shorter canoe rides.
Many of the municipality's cycle paths are also suitable for roller skiing. Here are some tips for slightly longer routes:
• Old highway 45 southeast of the urban area
• Mölltorps school towards Norra Björke
Along some exercise tracks, ski tracks are made during the winter and since 2019 there is an artificial snow facility at Skidstugan in Strömslund. You can find the current track status on www.skidspar.se. You can also read more here.
HIKING AND WALKING
For those who want to walk or hike, the possibilities are endless, whether you want to plan your own route or choose a marked trail. Edsvidsleden (14 km) is the municipality's longest marked hiking trail.
The municipality's many lakes offer bathing of all kinds. Find your own place or visit one of the municipal beaches at Öresjö, Gravlången or Trehörningen (Sjölanda). At Öresjö there are two beaches, a slide, beach volleyball court, track for swimming and accessibility-adapted ramps. In Sjuntorp and at Arena Älvhögsborg you can practice swimming in heated indoor pools. Dog baths are available at Knorren and Öresjö.
The bicycle is an excellent means of transport for those who like activity and outdoor life. The municipality offers everything from road cycling to mountain biking and calm cycling excursions. Click here to download a cycling map of Trollhättan. You who ride a mountain bike naturally show great consideration for pedestrians and others. Avoid cycling when it is wet outside, so as not to cause ground damage.
You can fish in the following waters if you have a fishing license:
• Göta älv and Liperedssjöarna: Sportfiskarna Trollhättan/Vänersborg
• Vanderydsvattnet: Kobergs Förvaltning AB
• Öresjö: Trollhättan-Öresjö FVOF

If you are interested in birds, Hullsjön is a given excursion destination. From the three bird towers, about 200 species of birds are seen every year. Göta älv and the islands at Stallbacka are other nice areas for bird watching.
Many nice playgrounds invite to outdoor activities and play. We especially recommend the so-called theme playgrounds Macken playground in Maria Albert's park in the city center, Skrotnisse's playground on Spikön, Vattenkraftens playground in the fall and lock area and the Space playground at Kronogården.
Several outdoor gyms are spread across the municipality. Here is something for everyone who wants to train for free in an outdoor environment. Click here to see an overview of the different options.
LOCAL SPORTS VENUES
The municipality's many local sports venues invite to activity and outdoor stay. When the venues are not booked for training and matches, you are welcome to use them for spontaneous sports in a responsible way. In four places there are artificial turf where you can play football all year round. In the city center and at the beach of lake Öresjö, there are volleyball nets during the summer.
In Trollhättan's Skate and activity park, there are surfaces to skate on for all tastes. Here you can go skateboarding, kickbiking and inline skating. In the park there is also a special pump track for cycling. In Trollhättan there is also one of the country's finest indoor halls, "Junkpark Indoor".
The nature of Trollhättan is well suited for horseback riding. At Ängens gård there are special riding trails, but of course it is possible to ride in many other places. Please thing about the sensitivity of the ground when you ride and avoid riding when it is wet outside, so as not to cause ground damage. You who meet horses and riders: seek eye contact and keep in mind that the horse is a very sensitive animal that is easily frightened.
You stay in nature with the support of the Right of Public Access. It also means obligations. You must not harm animals, nature, trees or crops. Show consideration, do not go over other people's plots and always take your trash home with you. Park only in permitted places or choose the bike and you will be more free. The Right of Public Access means that you stay in nature at your own responsibility and based on your own ability.
