The Canal Museum
Trollhättan

Learn more about life and work around the Trollhättan Locks and Canal

Enter a building that is over 100 years old and learn more about the history behind the Trollhätte canal and the lock system in Trollhättan. Here you can see different boat models, a well-preserved diver's suit from the 19th century and much more.

The Canal Museum

The Canal Museum opened in 1984 and is housed in a building constructed over 100 years ago. Here are about fifty boat models and a diving suit with underwater tools from the 19th century. You can also visit a rebuilt smithy that looks exactly like it did during the time the locks were built. Visit the rebuilt captain's saloon in red plush from the Vielle Montagne III cargo ship and all the canal company's guestbooks from 1796 onwards are also available for viewing. A visit to the Kanalmuseet is a good complement to visiting the locks.
