Tjörn Island of art trail
Tjörn

37 km leisurely bike ride on Tjörn

Here, we present an easy cycling tour on the western part of Tjörn, offering diverse landscapes with both asphalt and gravel paths. The route begins at Klädesholmen by Salt & Sill.

Are you looking for a pleasant and easy cycling route that takes you along gravel paths, asphalt, and through magical nature with the sea and forest close at hand? Then the Tjörn Island of Art tour is perfect for you.

The route begins and ends at the floating hotel, Salt & Sill, on the small island of Klädesholmen. From here, you pedal over the bridge connecting Klädesholmen to Tjörn. Soon, you'll pass Bleket with its charming white archipelago houses and continue towards Skärhamn. Here, you'll cycle along the sea in a rural setting. Need a break? Keep an eye out for the sign to Moriks Fårgård. If you stop here, you'll get a real energy boost from visiting this oasis with a farm shop and café. If you want to cool off and perhaps enjoy fantastic sea views, we suggest turning towards Stockevik and its beautiful beach.

Nordic Watercolor Museum and Sculpture in Pilane

Your cycling journey now continues towards Skärhamn. If you're seeking art and cultural experiences, you're in the right place. So, cycle into the southern harbor. Here, you'll find the Nordic Watercolor Museum as well as cozy cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Now, it's time to head out of Skärhamn via Utäng and follow the signs for Tjörn – Island of Art towards Pilane. With the wind in your hair, you'll travel along the cycle path towards Dyreby, then cross the road towards Brevik. The varied landscape that combines the beautiful enchanted forest of Säby with winding paths, wind-swept pine forests, oak groves, and meandering boardwalks is truly something special. Finally, you'll reach Sculpture in Pilane – nature's own art gallery. Take a moment to admire the magnificent artworks! From Pilane, the tour continues towards Långekärrsvägen, where you turn right. If you want to take a detour or cycle a slightly longer route, turn left instead to reach Björholmen or Kyrkesund.

Finish with a nice seaside coffee break

Now, follow the country road and turn right at lower Tådås - it's marked with a green cycling sign. At Brok, continue by keeping to the left towards Kärrslättsvägen. Here, you have the option to shorten the route and cycle back the same way to Skärhamn. The route takes you left at the cycling sign towards Krossekärrsvägen. Here, you'll enjoy the lovely gravel roads as you roll through Hermansgård, Tolleby Tjärn, and then through Tolleby. The journey continues to Aröd and then back towards Klädesholmen.

The path takes you through the small community of Bleket and towards Klädesholmen. Just before the bridge to Klädesholmen by the seaside, you'll find the small sourdough bakery, Lottas Bak & Form. Here, you can conclude your tour with a delightful coffee or lunch.
