Stay within the walls in a historic setting

Carlsten Fortress' formidable walls wind around the Donjon and the Commandant's House. Inside these 18th and 19th-century buildings, you can stay in the charming rooms of the Soldier's Hotel with a view over Marstrand and the sea, just like thousands of soldiers have done throughout the years.

At Carlsten's Soldier's Hotel on Marstrand, you can experience a historic atmosphere and stay within the fortress's walls. The hotel consists of 20 rooms with varying standards, including hostel-style rooms with shared showers and toilets in the corridor, as well as rooms with hotel-standard amenities. In the hotel's corridors, you can find details from the fortress's active days.

The Donjon offers 13 rooms with hostel-style standards. This is where the soldiers of Carlsten initially resided in the large halls at the top of the tower.

In the Commandant's House, you'll find 7 rooms with hotel-standard amenities. The house was built of brick in 1775 for the commander and noble prisoners. The last commander of Carlsten still resides upstairs in the house.

The hotel is open year-round.
