Munkedals Herrgård was built in 1823, but the history of the site stretches much further back. Its story encompasses everything from medieval monks and mills to ironworks and the industry that came to shape Munkedal. Today, the manor is a welcoming meeting place where history blends with tranquillity, nature and modern comforts.

The manor's 23 individually decorated hotel rooms are spread across several buildings in the scenic grounds. Each room has its own character, and several are named after people associated with the history of the manor and the local industry. Here you can enjoy a comfortable and peaceful stay with the forest and nature as your closest neighbours.

Seasonal flavours

At the restaurant, the seasons and ingredients take centre stage. Food is prepared from scratch, with inspiration drawn from the forests, the sea and Sweden's west coast. Game from the manor's own grounds, fish, seafood and carefully selected ingredients feature on the menus, alongside vegetarian options. Meals are complemented by freshly baked bread from the manor's kitchen.

Nature and experiences

Nature begins right outside the door. Explore the surrounding countryside and the Bohusleden hiking trail, go fishing or combine your stay with a round of golf at one of the nearby courses. At Harkerud, the manor's secluded lakeside retreat, groups can cook over an open fire, go for a swim and relax in a wood-fired sauna.
