Experience the calm and serenity of the Swedish countryside. Here in Vårgårda, you’ll find many places where you can enjoy true silence and hear nothing but the sounds of nature.
Being able to hear nothing but the sounds of nature is an experience many of us no longer can take for granted. But here in Vårgårda, there are several places filled with peaceful silence, where you can unwind and truly let your shoulders drop. Here are some of our favourite quiet spots:
Ljungås nature reserve
Nestled in a unique nature reserve surrounded by a rich cultural landscape, this 19th-century forest farmstead offers a glimpse into Sweden’s rural heritage. The reserve is situated far from any major roads, and the silence here is truly exceptional — broken only by birdsong and the whisper of the wind.

Tränningen nature reserve
A nature reserve deep in the forest, with no official hiking trails but several small paths winding around the lakes. Here, you are far from the nearest villages, making it an exceptionally quiet and peaceful area. This is the perfect place to visit when you want a little adventure and enjoy finding your own way.
The lakes are popular for tour skating, as they often freeze early in the season.
The easiest way to reach the reserve is to head towards Nårunga, turn at the sign for ‘Lida’, and follow the small gravel road through the village. Continue past ‘Lidas mångfaldsodling’ and then follow the signs to ‘Tränningen’.

Lidasjön/Sandsjön hiking trail
After about one kilometre of hiking along this trail, you’ll cross a wooden bridge over a small river flowing into the lake. This spot has a unique atmosphere — it feels as if you’ve travelled much farther north in Sweden than you actually have. It’s the perfect place to pause, take in the scenery, and enjoy the deep silence.
