A wonderful hiking experience in an enchanting old forest

Thanks to the nature reserve, the forest remains relatively untouched, giving it an almost magical feel in places.

The western part around Störtaredsån contains the oldest forest and also the most significant elevation changes. The trail passes close to Kroksjön, which invites you to enjoy some lovely moments for a snack, or perhaps even a swim on a warm day!

Ljungås farm has been carefully managed with traditional methods throughout the 20th century. Oskar Andersson, born in 1899, spent his whole life at Ljungås. Despite the potential for the forest to generate significant income, he lived a very simple life.

After Oskar's passing, his sister's grandchildren inherited the farm and wanted to preserve Oskar's legacy. Following hard work from, among others, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and the local government, the reserve was inaugurated in June 1993.

The reserve has two hiking trails that guide you around the entire area. During summer, grazing animals may be found in parts of the reserve, so please keep dogs on a leash.
