Vårgårda

Sävens badplats

Located along Route 42 just south of Gabrielsson's country store in Ljurhalla, between Vårgårda and Fristad. Features include bathing jetty, changing cabins, dry toilets, and ample parking. A sandy beach with well-maintained grassy areas for sunbathing. The water is shallow with a lovely sandy bottom.

Säven is the most visited swimming spot in Vårgårda and is classified as an EU bathing area, meaning the municipality is required to monitor and ensure the water quality meets stricter standards.

Nearest bus stop: Vaselid, 100 meters from the swimming spot. Served by buses 582 and 584.

Ornungasjön

Situated on a hill with a beautiful view of the lake and up towards Ornunga. Amenities include a pier, dry toilet, barbecue area, changing cabin, and a beach volleyball court. Parking is directly adjacent to the swimming area. The hiking trail Ornungleden starts here as well. 

Nearest bus stop: Ornunga, 1 km from the swimming spot. Served by bus 583.

Horla badplats - Storsjöstrand

Located just outside the village of Horla, beside Storsjöstrand. Features piers, a changing cabin, dry toilet, and a barbecue area. Sunbathing areas are available on the large grassy lawn by the water. A diving tower is situated further out in the water. The lake has a fine sandy bottom. There is also a hiking trail around the lake.

Nearest bus stop: Storsjön, 300 meters from the swimming spot. Served by buses 585 and 588.

Kvinnestadsjön

Accessed on foot from Kvinnestad Church, where parking is available. The path from the church to the swimming area is approximately 300 meters long. Amenities include a large grassy area for sunbathing, piers, a barbecue area, changing cabin, and dry toilet. The water has a fine sandy bottom. An enjoyable hiking trail of about 8.5 km circles the lake.

Nearest bus stop: Kvinnestad Church, 600 meters from the swimming spot. Served by bus 583.

Uddabosjön

Located in Skogsbygden on the way to Ljungås. Features wheelchair-accessible changing cabins, piers, dry toilet, barbecue area, and a beach volleyball court. Sunbathing is on the large grassy area by the water. There is also a sauna available for a fee, with instructions on how to use on spot. Parking is adjacent to the swimming area.

Nearest bus stop: Tarabo, 800 meters from the swimming spot. Served by buses 584 and 588.

Lida Sandsjön

Along the road to Lida from Nårunga lies this unique place. A pier leads bathers out into the water between large stones. A very beautiful location characterized by rocks and stones, reminiscent of northern latitudes. Amenities include a dry toilet, piers, and a delightful barbecue area. An excellent excursion! Don't miss the lovely hiking trail around the lake, approximately 3 km long.

Nearest bus stop: Nårunga Church, 2.3 km from the swimming spot. Served by buses 584 and 588.

Lena Lången

A beach among summer cottages. Features a small sandy beach, short pier, and dry toilet. Parking is about 300 meters from the swimming area. Drive towards Långared from Fly; the parking area is on the right side after approximately 2 kilometers.

Nearest bus stop: Hallen, 800 meters from the swimming spot. Served by buses 541 and 542.

Bergstena Tåsjön

A smaller swimming area behind the sawmill "Perssons Trä" in Bergstena. Features a nice lawn, short pier, and dry toilet. Parking is available adjacent to the beach, behind Perssons Trä.

Nearest bus stop: Bergstena Village, 300 meters from the swimming spot. Served by buses 540 and 586.

Utomhusbad på Tånga Hed

In addition to the many lakes, there's also an outdoor pool at Tånga Hed. Free swimming for youths up to 19 years old during the summer! Within cycling and walking distance from Vårgårda city center.
